ANGER MANAGEMENT FOR TEENS

A Free Program to Help Adolescents deal with Anger Issues

Contact:    Steve S. Rakipi, rsefedin@yahoo.com, 908-322-9180

Feeling frustrated dealing with your teen’s anger issues?  Is your teenager feeling isolated, lonely and unsure of how to cope with his/her own anger?  Take advantage of a new resource available for high school students to deal with anger.  Resolve Community Counseling Center, a non-profit mental health care service, will offer an Anger Management Group for Teens, meeting on Monday nights, November 14, 2011 through December 19, 2011, from 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm at Resolve’s offices, 1830 Front Street, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076.  To register, please call Resolve at 908-322-9180.

As teenagers struggle to grow into adults, inner conflicts can erupt in anger.  Anger Management for Teens will help kids to understand their angry feelings and strengthen their inner voice.  This program delivers the skills necessary to recognize negative communication and to address others in constructive and effective ways.  Sessions will focus on differentiating between anger and aggression; expressing one’s anger assertively and directly; coping with peer and parental conflicts; recognizing behaviors that trigger anger and derail communication; and dealing with other people’s criticism and anger.

Steve S. Rakipi, CSW, and Dashua Hinton, MS will facilitate the group.  While working at the Jewish Board Family and Children’s Services, Steve S. Rakipi counseled adolescents individually and in groups, and he has been an adjunct professor at New York University’s graduate school of social work.  Dashua Hinton is a licensed rehabilitation counselor who works with teenagers at JFK Medical Center.

Resolve Community Counseling Center is a non-profit mental health organization providing counseling, psychotherapy, and psychological services for people from all social and economic backgrounds.  Fees for individual counseling are determined on a sliding scale, according to ability to pay.  Please visit www.resolvenj.com for more information.
